Locked before anything is sent
Your family is locked on your own device first. Only you and the relatives you invite hold the key to open it.
A beautiful family tree for your phone or laptop. Share it with relatives, see everyone from your own place in it, and keep it private—locked on your device so only you and the people you invite hold the key.
Just need something quick? Answer a family question or print a tree in a minute.
The same person is Father to Sam, Father-in-law to Priya, and Grandfather to their children. Every person’s relationship names, birthday reminders, and starred relatives start from themselves.
From parents, step-family, and in-laws to “second cousin once removed”—calculated automatically as your tree grows.
Upcoming birthday and anniversary reminders—and the relatives you star—always adjust to who is holding the phone.
For Indian families who want them, switch on Hindi relationship labels (like Pita, Sasur, Mausi, or elder Tauji vs younger Chacha from birth dates). Also in Punjabi, Marathi, Bengali and Tamil, and in Spanish (Tío, Suegra, Consuegro).
Your family’s details stay on your own devices. When you share with relatives, everything is locked before it leaves your phone.
Names, dates, and stories are locked with your key before anything is sent.
What leaves your device is a locked box that our service has no key to open.
Only approved relatives hold the key to unlock the tree on their phone.
Your family is locked on your own device first. Only you and the relatives you invite hold the key to open it.
You choose a username and password: a lock and key for your family’s box, not a sign-up form.
Each person adds their own pictures on their own phone. We never store anyone’s photos.
Because your password never reaches us, we can’t reset it—instead, you get a printable recovery key to keep safe.
Use it on a single phone or laptop with no username at all. Nothing leaves the device until you choose to share.
Download a full backup any time, or export a standard GEDCOM file that other family tree programs can open.
Local-first storage & end-to-end encryption: Your tree lives in your browser’s IndexedDB storage as a SQLite file. When syncing or sharing, your password stays on your device (Argon2id + HKDF) and locks data with AES-GCM. Shared families use per-member elliptic-curve keys (P-256) and an owner-signed member list, and invite secrets sit after the # in the link so they never reach our server.
What leaves the browser: When sync is on, our service sees only a hash of your username, anonymous account IDs in a shared family, the size of the locked boxes, and when they changed. Optional street map tiles come from OpenStreetMap (with an offline map setting available), and visits are counted with Google Analytics (with advertising disabled and invite/family IDs stripped).
